On the 27th May we celebrated Canarian Day in school. During the week before the children prepared themselves so they were ready to demonstrate all the different things they had learnt about life on the Canary Islands.
On the actual day the pupils came dressed in the typical Canary dress to enjoy a day full of fun traditional activities, music, and of course a typical Canary lunch.
The special day came to an end with the children ready to show their parents the results of their hard work. The little 3 year old children from our Nursery class sang “El juego de las islas” which describes the characteristics of the different islands. To follow Reception and year 1 class delighted us with the song “La saranda campesina” accompanied by flute and guitar musicians. To finialise our day of celebrations the older children of the school Year 2 and Year 3 sang and danced to “El sorndongo” alongside the musicians, once again demonstrating not only the children´s artistic talents but their self-discipline as they always do during these special events.
