CANARIAN DAY
On Monday 29th May, to celebrate “Canarian Day” the pupils came dressed in their best traditional Canarian attire.
The day started with Nursery and Reception class presenting a fantastic dance “El Pasacrate” demonstrating their great artistic skills to their families.
During the rest of the day the traditional Canarian music filled the school with a happy atmosphere. All the children took part in the different activities giving them an opportunity to learn a little more about the canarian culture: there were “Gofio” workshops, Canarian wrestling, boules and different traditional children´s games such as “El pañuelito – The scarf race”, “el teje – hopscotch”, and “uno….caribeño – One step….”.
To finish off the day, the older children used their newly learnt skills to entertain their family especially for this Canarian festival.
First Year 1 and Year 2 classes presented the dance “La punta y el tacón” which they did very professionally with a great smile.
Then it was Year 3 and Year 4 class’ turn to demonstrate their singing skills with a perfect finish to this important day, they sang “Vivo en un archipiélago”
