“Peace in schools” is a very important part of Queens School´s ethics and therefore all pupils join in “Peace Day” participating in the different activities throughout the school.
Even the smallest of pupils aged 3 learn how important it is to have “hands for caring and sharing”; their parents are encouraged to discuss this idea further at home and return a peace message on a special peace dove which are then hung around the school for all to see.
All other classes discuss the meaning of “Peace” they discuss how they can create a peaceful school environment. The older pupils had a chance to add their thoughts to a large display called “throw kindness like confetti”. Remarks such as “you are special”, “together we can change the world” and “just be nice” were written on post-its representing the confetti.
On Peace Day all the pupils attended a special Peace Day assembly, the pupils and teachers were dressed in white and children from Reception and Year 1 presented their poems and special Peace Song to all. They finished with the phrase “Peace Day should be Every Day” which was a great message to all.
