SPORTS DAY
Sports Day is a well known tradition in British schools. One of the main ethics in Queen´s School is to develop a positive “I can attitude” amongst our pupils. The run up to Sports day is a great opportunity to remind the children that Sport is to enjoy, that it is not about winning but about taking part and trying their best.
The children get very excited about the whole event and as they practice, a great team spirit is created as they cheer their teams on and help some of the younger members of their team. It is a delight to watch as you can see how the pupils each year develop not only in their sport skills but also in their personal and social skills.
The parents are invited to watch the event and to a special prize giving ceremony. As a tradition the children sat completely still with anticipation, waiting to find out which team had obtained the most points and would be honored with having their coloured ribbon put on the trophy.
After each pupil was awarded with a sports medal for taking part, the older children from Year 3 were asked to come back on to the stage to demonstrate the dance skills they had learnt throughout the year. As all the children had enjoyed the dance so much we invited all the children back on stage to dance and celebrate the end of another great school year.
