It is vital that children start to understand the importance of healthy living at an early age. In the educational curriculum we cover how daily exercise and eating the correct food is a very essential part of being healthy.
On “International Food Day” several special assemblies were held for the different age groups. The children discussed how important a balanced diet is, they tasted different types of fruits, and watched a power point to explain that in some areas of the world there is a lack of food, and we should try not to waste food. The children were made aware of the fact that in their local community, there are families who are also in need of food and we discussed how the children could help.
Later the children received a letter to take home asking their family to participate in a collection of non-perishable foods, which would later be collected by the town hall and distributed to the local food banks.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for participating so generously.
